Ohio State announces ticketing process for Autumn Commencement

Due to the steadily increasing size of The Ohio State University’s graduating classes, the university has instituted a ticketing process for Autumn Commencement.

Beginning this semester, graduating students will need to request tickets for their family, friends and other guests. Tickets are free, and each graduate who applies by Nov. 27 is guaranteed up to four tickets. Graduates will also have the option to join a waitlist for up to four additional tickets.

In order to better accommodate a growing number of graduates, Ohio State has already decreased the size of the commencement platform, relocated the platform to allow for more floor seating, and opened all available seating sections.

Autumn Commencement will take place at 2 p.m. on Dec. 17, 2017, at the Schottenstein Center.

Students who plan to graduate on Dec. 17 are strongly encouraged to apply through their college office by Nov. 1. Once a student has applied to graduate, he or she will receive email updates about the ticketing process for family and friends. Students who apply to graduate after Nov. 1 will still be eligible to request tickets to the ceremony, but will receive the instructions and access to tickets at a later time. Graduates do not need their own ticket.

Tickets will be general admission and seating will be first come, first served. Children under age 2 who sit on another guest’s lap do not need a ticket.

Graduates will be responsible for requesting and printing tickets through the “My Ohio State Student Account” portal, the same web portal students use to request athletic and other tickets. Complete instructions for requesting tickets will be sent via email the week of Nov. 13 to students who have applied to graduate. Additional information is also available at http://www.commencement.osu.edu/.
