Ohio State campuses face threat of severe weather Friday into weekend

Weather alert expected to impact all campuses

All campuses of The Ohio State University can expect severe storms starting Friday afternoon. The greatest threat will be damaging winds. Large hail and a tornado are also possible.

According to the National Weather Service Wilmington office, an initial round of storms is expected Friday morning, particularly across northern Ohio. These storms are not expected to be severe.

Stronger storms are expected to develop Friday afternoon, gradually moving southeast through the evening. Damaging winds are the primary severe threat, and there is a concern for widespread wind damage. Large hail and tornadoes are also possible.

The weather service is expecting very heavy rainfall out of some of the storms Friday night into Saturday and flash flooding is quite possible.
