Ohio State experts can discuss aspects of Hussein’s capture

Two Ohio State professors can discuss this weekend’s capture of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and other issues surrounding it.

Richard Herrmann, professor of political science and director of the Mershon Center, can discuss Hussein’s capture and its effect on relations in the Middle East. Herrmann is an expert on the Middle East and, for four years, was the principal investigator of a government project called “Conflict Resolution, Arms Control, and Regional Security in the Middle East and South Asia.” Herrmann was a Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow at the U.S. Department of State on the policy planning staff and is a frequent commentator on issues in the Middle East. Mary Ellen O’Connell, professor of law in the Moritz College of Law and research fellow at the Mershon Center, can discuss the trial of Hussein and what charges may be brought against him. O’Connell has written several books and articles about enforcement of international law, the United Nations, security issues and the use of force.
