Ohio State faculty to take field for academic excellence

During Faculty Recognition Day Saturday in Ohio Stadium, academic excellence will share the field with The Ohio State University Marching Band. In a ceremony during the halftime show of the Ohio State-Minnesota football game, 33 distinguished faculty members will be honored for their scholarly contributions to the university community.

To prepare for their halftime debut, the honorees will sharpen their marching skills in a rehearsal at 5:15 p.m. today at the tennis courts west of Larkins Hall, 33 W. 17th Ave.

The halftime show is the second annual event honoring recipients of the Alumni Award for distinguished Teaching, Distinguished Scholar Award, Faculty Award for Distinguished University Service, Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Award, University Distinguished Lecturer, the Distinguished University Professor and Poet Laureate.

WHAT: Faculty Recognition Day rehearsal and an opportunity to interview the university’s top researchers.

WHEN: 5:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1.

WHERE: Tennis Courts west of Larkins Hall, 330 W. 17th Ave.

WHY: To practice for the Faculty Recognition Day halftime event in Ohio Stadium.
