Ohio State fans join service project at Fiesta Bowl

For the seventh consecutive year, Ohio State will show appreciation to the city hosting its bowl game with a service project. The project will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday (12/31) at the St. Mary's Food Bank, 2831 N. 31st Ave., in Phoenix. Volunteers will include President Karen A. Holbrook, Ellen Tressel and other coaches' wives, students, administrators, and a large contingent of alumni.

Fiesta Bowl service project participants will show their Buckeye spirit as they sort food items and help pack food boxes. The St. Mary's Food Bank is the world's first and second- largest food bank in the country, serving needy families and individuals in 13 of the 15 counties in Arizona.

Organized by the Office of Student Affairs, Ohio State's tradition of taking part in service events at bowl games began with the 1998 Sugar Bowl. Ohio State volunteers also worked at the St. Mary's Food Bank during the 2003 and 2004 Fiesta Bowls.
