Ohio State football season tickets set to remain at 2019 prices

There’s good Ohio State University football news on two fronts: College football’s greatest rivalry is back in Columbus in 2020, and the proposed cost of a season ticket to see the Buckeyes next year is unchanged from 2019.

Ohio State’s football team faces traditional Big Ten powers Iowa, Nebraska and Michigan at home next year. Bowling Green and Buffalo come to Ohio Stadium as non-conference opponents.

The Board of Trustees will consider ticket prices for the 2020 football season at its meetings Nov. 20-21. Since 2017, the average regular reserved single ticket price has increased $1. The cost of student tickets has remained unchanged since 2013.

According to the proposal recommended by the Ohio State Athletic Council, tickets for individual games will range from $63 to $220 for regular reserved seating, depending on the opponent. The council, made up of students, faculty, staff and alumni, helps develop policies governing intercollegiate athletics at Ohio State.

At $63, Buffalo would be the least expensive ticket. Michigan would be the most expensive.

Season ticket packages cost less than the total for per-game tickets. Public season ticket holders will see a 15 percent discount, while faculty and staff receive a 20 percent discount.

For students, a season ticket costs $238 — or $34 per game. The Department of Athletics continues to be one of only 13 self‐sustaining athletic programs in the nation. The department funds scholarships for more than 1,100 student‐athletes.

Golf Course Membership and Daily Green Fees

The trustees are also expected to consider a modest price increase for the university golf courses.

For the 2019 calendar year, membership dues for alumni, faculty, staff and affiliates are recommended to increase by 8 percent. Ohio State student membership dues are recommended to increase by 2.7 percent.

An annual student membership would be $750. For faculty and staff, the annual membership would be $2,791.

The membership dues increase supports the capital reserve account for future projects and deferred maintenance; daily green fees serve as operating revenue.
