Ohio State marching band celebrates 100 years in the ’Shoe
Alumni band joins in the festivities
For the 53rd year, The Ohio State University Marching Band alumni joined TBDBITL at Ohio Stadium to take part in pregame and halftime festivities Saturday evening.
The Alumni Band participated in a separate ramp entrance immediately after the current band, and the two groups united for an Ohio Stadium-themed halftime performance that featured a collection of 10 great moments in Horseshoe history.
The bands performed classics such as “Hang on Sloopy” and “Beautiful Ohio,” as well as some popular hits like “Eye of the Tiger” and “California Dreamin.’”
Band formations included a birthday cake and the rotunda of Ohio Stadium.
Leading the quadruple Script Ohio at halftime were the three most recent head drum majors plus the current assistant drum major. Current drum majors Austin Bowman and Dalton Cararo led the 2022 band and alumni in the end zones, while 2020 head drum major Brayden Deemer led the east alumni group and 2018-19 head drum major Konner Barr handled the west script.
Four current or former band members dotted the “i.” Current member Kamren Zirger (2019-22) and alum Paul Weeda (1988-91) handled the south and north end zones, respectively. The east stadium was served by James Pardi (1985-88) and the west by Lawrence Cohen (1986-90).
