Festival celebrates the art of cartooning and opening of expanded Billy Ireland Cartoon Museum and Library – Nov. 14 – 17. The Festival of Cartoon Art, a celebration of cartoons, comics and their creators, is taking place in the newly expanded Billy Ireland Cartoon Museum and Library in Sullivant Hall, 1813 N. High St. through Nov. 17. The festival, which is held every three years, includes an academic conference, a grand opening festival and presentations by cartoon creators. Registration is closed but tickets are available for individual talks. In addition, the museum galleries will be free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16 and 17. SEE: http://cartoons.osu.edu/sites/FCA/2013/index.html.

Students will light up the South Campus Chiller Plant building – Nov. 18 – 25. Ohio State students will produce large scale digital lighting displays each evening on the walls of the new chiller plant located on Cannon Drive (south of Herrick Drive). The building is visible from Route 315.
The students, who are studying architecture and theater, have divided into teams and will project their displays from 8 to 10 p.m. each evening on the north side of the building. Each night, a different student team project will be featured. Students, faculty and staff will be on site to answer questions in the parking lot to the north of the building. It’s National Geography Awareness Week – Nov. 17 – 23. The Ohio State University Department of Geography is hosting National Geography Awareness Week and National GIS Day activities, Nov. 17 – 23. Events include a weather forecasting competition sponsored by the Meteorology Club, the 2nd Annual Geography Bowl (Jeopardy!), Geographic Information Science industry exhibits and interactive displays at the Ohio Union, and a presentation by student researchers working in the Appalachia Ohio region.
