BuckeyeThon dance marathon bigger than ever this year – Feb. 14-15. Approximately 3,500 Ohio State students are expected to dance the night – and following day – away in the annual BuckeyeThon dance marathon, Feb. 14 and 15 in the Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St.
BuckeyeThon supports the Hematology/Oncology/BMT department at Nationwide Children’s Hospital through events and activities throughout the year, culminating in the annual dance marathon.
There are two sessions of dancing: 8 p.m. on Friday to 8 a.m. on Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday. The closing ceremony and “big reveal” of the amount raised takes place at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Also on Saturday:
•Aveda haircutting for Wigs for Kids or Pantene Beautiful Lengths, 3 to 4:30 p.m.
•Olympic Games and Tug of War, noon to 1 p.m. and 4:20 to 5:20 p.m.
BuckeyeThon is the largest student-run philanthropy at Ohio State. Last year they raised over $608,000, and this year the goal is $750,000. SEE: http://buckeyethon.osu.edu/. Film and discussion focuses on income inequality – Feb. 20. Should minimum wage be raised? Should people working full-time live in poverty? On Thursday, Feb. 20, the College of Social Work offers the film Inequality for All which takes a look at income inequality in our nation and the way it has shaped our economy and democracy. Robert Reich, former Clinton cabinet member and film narrator, will lead a live webinar discussion at 6:30 p.m. The film, a Sundance Film Festival winner, will follow. Guests are asked to arrive at 6:15 p.m. to be seated for the live webinar and film in 100 Stillman Hall, 1947 College Road. This event is part of the college’s 50 Years tribute to important milestones in our country’s response to poverty and inequality.
