Ohio State offers free house in exchange for relocating it

The Ohio State University Office of Real Estate and Property Management will transfer ownership of a three-bedroom house in exchange for its removal from the site adjacent to the Graduate and Professional Student Housing Project, located on Neil Avenue between West Ninth and West Tenth avenues.

An open house at the dwelling known as the Mary Fitzgerald house and located at 252 W. Ninth Ave., is planned for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (6/17). The final open house is set from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday (6/25).

The 1,546 square-foot, one and one half story cottage-style house has one and one-half bathrooms. The house, which was built in 1903, is a frame structure with woodsiding.

To be eligible for ownership of the house, interested parties must: own an adequate-sized lot; have estimates of moving costs from a reputable structure mover; have proof of insurance at limits acceptable to Ohio State; and have the ability to remove the house within 30 days of transfer. The university also requires pre-qualification for or financing in place to cover all estimated costs.
