Ohio State offers information for graduates, guests

Eugenie C. Scott, executive director of the National Center for Science Education Inc., (NCSE) will deliver the winter quarter commencement address March 20 at St. John Arena. Approximately 1,600 degrees will be awarded during the ceremony, which begins at 2 p.m.
Honorary doctor of science degrees will be presented to Scott and Gerald E. Brown, Distinguished Professor of Physics at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, one of the world’s leading theoretical nuclear physicists.

Distinguished Service Awards will be presented to Yvette McGee Brown, president of the Center for Child and Family Advocacy and former judge in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas; and Raymond Miller, alumni coordinator and former dean of student services for the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.

Sunday ceremony makes parking more convenient
Campus visitors should find it easier to park because they will not have to compete for spaces with normal weekday university traffic.

Visitors may enter the campus from Lane Avenue, King Avenue or from Woodruff Avenue off High Street. Those using Route 315 can exit at Lane Avenue; or, if coming from the south, can exit at the new OSU Medical Center ramp and turn north on Cannon Drive.

•Guest Parking
Graduates and guests may park free of charge. Options include any of the permit zones around Ohio Stadium, the student residence halls, the lots south of St. John Arena, the Ag campus lots, and the Tuttle Park garage. There will be no shuttle buses.

•Disability Parking
Disability parking areas are located on the north side of St. John Arena accessible from West Lane Avenue. A commencement disability parking permit and/or Ohio Handicap Permit is required.

Facilities
St. John Arena opens at noon on commencement day. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. No tickets are required. Guests must remain in the stands and off the floor throughout the ceremony.

•Disability seating
Seating for guests in wheelchairs or those with limited mobility is located in the east end of St. John Arena, mezzanine level, sections 10A-14A. This area is accessible by ramps and admission is by pass only. Guests should make arrangements with the Office of Commencement and Special Events, (614) 292-9051.

•An American Sign Language interpreter will be located near Section 8A on the north side
of St. John Arena, mezzanine level.
