Ohio State president helps serve Thanksgiving dinner

Ohio State University President Michael V. Drake joined a team of university volunteers to serve Thanksgiving Dinner to students, faculty and staff, and their families.

The annual Ohio State Thanksgiving Dinner is a 29-year-old tradition that started with 25 graduate students in the Hale Black Cultural Center. The celebration is considered one of the largest Thanksgiving Day dinners on a college campus.

About 1,600 members of the Ohio State community consume more than 650 pounds of turkey, 30 gallons of gravy, 432 pounds each of green beans and corn, 320 pounds of corn bread and 2,000 slices of pie. The annual celebration serves those who are unable to travel home for the holiday.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of International Affairs support Thanksgiving Dinner at Ohio State.
