Ohio State president receives award

COLUMBUS – Ohio State University President Karen A. Holbrook received the Distinguished Contributions to Research Administration Award from the the Society of Research Administrators (SRA) International at the organization’s annual meeting in Orlando, Fla.

Holbrook also gave the meeting’s keynote address on the significant amount of resource investment needed to build and sustain a successful research program.

SRA International, founded in 1967, is a nonprofit association that helps improve the efficiency and effectiveness of research administration. With more than 3,000 members worldwide, the organization is a resource for research administrators in a variety of fields.

Holbrook, a skin cell dermatologist who spent more than 20 years at the University of Washington and was vice president for research at the University of Florida, Gainesville, has written or co-authored more than 180 journal articles, textbook chapters and other research papers. Before being named Ohio State’s 13th president in July, Holbrook was provost at the University of Georgia.
