Ohio State provides airport for U.S. Army Reserve parachute training

COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Saturday, Feb. 3, the 412th Civil Affairs Battalion will practice parachute drops on Don Scott Field at The Ohio State University Airport, flying in Black Hawk helicopters. To accommodate the exercise, the airport will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The U.S. Army Reserves and Ohio State entered into a partnership in 2013 to allow the Columbus-based 412th Civil Affairs Battalion to conduct airborne training operations at the airport, located at 2160 West Case Road.

The public may view the jumps from the gravel parking lot behind the airport administration building. Because of the construction of the new terminal and flight school, there is currently no public area to view the landings. After January, 2019, an observation area will be available in the new building.
