Ohio State To Break Ground for the New School of Architecture Building

The Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture will celebrate the groundbreaking of its new academic building on Friday, April 5 at 4:00 p.m. The new building, scheduled for opening in the spring of 2004, will be constructed on the corner of Woodruff and Tuttle Park Avenues. The ceremony will take place in Ives Hall, 2073 Neil Avenue, on the Ohio State Columbus campus.

The new KSA building, to be constructed on the site of Ives Hall, will feature a number of innovative exterior and interior spaces. Highlights of the building include a flexible auditorium, state-of-the-art design studios and model shop, and a roof garden. The $32 million facility will house all offices and facilities for the architecture, landscape architecture, and planning sections.

Featured speakers for the event include Ohio State President William E. Kirwan, Board of Trustees Vice Chair James F. Patterson, and Knowlton School Director Robert S. Livesey. The architectural firm is Wandel and Schnell Inc., the design architectural firm is Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects, and the landscape architectural firm is Michael Van Valkenburgh and Associates
