Ohio State University president announces Northern State Tour

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State University President Michael V. Drake will spend two days meeting with students, alumni, and business and community leaders in Mansfield, Akron, Youngstown and Canton.

Among other stops, Drake will hold a town hall forum with students and educators in Youngstown, meet with community leaders and others at Ohio State’s Wooster campus, and tour the National First Ladies’ Library in Canton.

The tour will highlight Drake’s 2020 Vision and commitment to access, affordability and excellence.

College Affordability Town Hall Forum

Drake will lead a discussion about college affordability and Ohio State’s Young Scholars Program. The Young Scholars Program identifies talented students from economically challenged backgrounds in Youngstown and other large cities and starts working with those students in middle school to ensure they have the guidance, training and financial means to attend Ohio State.

The National First Ladies' Library is devoted to educating visitors about the contributions of first ladies and other notable women in history. Drake will meet with community members and tour the library.

The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute and Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center

Ohio State’s Agricultural Technical Institute grants associate degrees in agriculture and related fields of study. The Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, the research arm of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, is the state’s primary source of unbiased research on food, agriculture, family and the environment. Drake will join State Rep. Ron Amstutz, the Wayne County Commissioners, Wooster Mayor Robert F. Breneman and others for a luncheon.
