OSU Community Extension Center offers Health Fair

A health care and immunization clinic will be held Wednesday, (10/29) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the OSU Community Extension Center, located at 905 Mt. Vernon Avenue on the Near East side.

The “Fall Into Good Health” event will provide free flu vaccines and tetanus/diphtheria shots to qualified adults with Medicare/Medicaid cards. Free blood pressure screening, blood glucose screening, and cholesterol screening will also be available. For children, there will be information on immunizations and where they can be obtained. Refreshments will be provided and drawings will be held throughout the day for prize giveaways. Limited transportation is available

“Fall Into Good Health” is presented and sponsored by the Health Partnerships Group, an informal, non-incorporated gathering of individuals interested in health-related issues in the Near East area. The purpose of the Health Partnerships Group is to provide a forum through which health care professionals, organizations, and community members can exchange ideas, publicize resources, and form collaborations based on mutual needs and interests.

Community input is an essential aspect of the Health Partnerships Group’s activities. While physicians from The Ohio State University Hospitals and officials from the Columbus Health Department, among others, have knowledge and resources to benefit the community, they seek input from residents and area activists to help guide their efforts. The group seeks representation from non-profit agencies, resident associations, faith organizations, schools, businesses, government agencies, health partners, and others—especially people who live and work in the neighborhood.

WHY: To help improve the health of area residents; and to introduce residents to
the resources offered by the Health Partnerships Group, an informal group of people interested in health related issues.
