Panel discussions to highlight international internships

Ohio State’s Labor Advisory Committee (LAC), which provides input into policy issues related to the manufacture of goods that bear the Ohio State name and trademarks, is holding three presentations this week to raise awareness about international student internship opportunities. The internships are sponsored by the Office of Trademark and Licensing Services and are intended for students interested in human rights issues in the workplace.

On Wednesday (2/26), a panel discussion will include Edward Chyun, a law student who interned with a labor rights organization in Korea last summer; Alice Brown, an undergraduate student who interned with a human rights organization in Taiwan; Mary-Margaret Fonow, an associate professor in Women’s Studies; and Rick Van Brimmer, director of the university’s trademark licensing program. The event is set for noon in Room 348 of the Moritz College of Law, 55 W. 12th Ave.

On Thursday (2/27), a second discussion will include Fonow, Brown and Anna Fecker, a student member of the LAC and Columbus United Students Against Sweatshops. The event is set for 4 p.m. at the Ohio Union Conference Theatre, 1739 N. High St.

The final panel discussion with Chyun, Fonow and Van Brimmer is set for 3:30 p.m. Friday (2/28) in Room 220 of Schoenbaum Hall, 210 W. Woodruff Ave.

Each event is open to the public.
