UNIVERSITY PREPARES FOR CROWDS AT PINK FLOYD CONCERT
     COLUMBUS -- As many as 72,000 fans will be flocking to Ohio
Stadium at The Ohio State University May 29 for the Pink Floyd
concert, and university officials are gearing up for the crowds.
     Traffic will be heavy in the university area from the time
parking lots open at 4:30 p.m. until start of the concert at 9
p.m. and again after the concert is concluded -- probably between
12 midnight and 12:30 a.m.  University officials are discouraging
through traffic in the Ohio State area during those times, said
Sharon Rone, Ohio Union program director and chair of the concert
committee.
     All public parking for the concert is east of the Olentangy
River, so that the best approach to campus will be from the west
or north, Rone said.  Route 315 traffic may exit at Ackerman or
Lane avenues.
     Parking will cost $5 per vehicle.  Vehicles with a current
Ohio State parking decal may park free.
     Handicapped parking will be available in the band practice
area of the lot on the west side of Ohio Stadium.  Ohio State's
Office of Disability Services will issue permits for this area.
Disability restrooms will be under the stadium at gates 1 and 2.
     The Ticketmaster "will call" window will be located in the
stadium's north rotunda.
     Police will control traffic approaching the university
before and after the concert.  Regular two-way traffic will be
maintained on North High Street, Lane Avenue, Kenny Road and King
Avenue, and Neil Avenue except for the portion south of Lane.
     Before the concert, two-way traffic will be maintained on
Woody Hayes Drive west of Fyffe, and Twelfth Avenue from High
Street to Neil.  After the concert, traffic will be two lanes
outbound on those roads.
     Before the concert, traffic will be one-way toward the
stadium on Woodruff Avenue west of College, Neil Avenue south of
Lane, Woody Hayes Drive east of Fyffe, and Cannon Drive north of
Ninth Avenue.  After the concert, the same streets will be one-
way outbound.
     University officials and promoters will not permit video
cameras, still cameras, umbrellas, strollers, food, cans,
coolers, containers and bottles in the stadium.  Concert-goers
who leave the stadium during the concert will not be allowed to
return without a new ticket.
