PRESIDENT CLINTON TO SPEAK AT OHIO STATE ON TUESDAY MORNING:
TICKET PROCEDURES, MEDIA CREDENTIALING, PARKING
COLUMBUS -- President Bill Clinton will deliver a campaign address at St.
John Arena on The Ohio State University campus Tuesday (Oct. 29) morning.
His visit is being hosted by the university's Undergraduate Student
Government (USG), which extended invitations to both major presidential
campaigns.
"We are extremely excited to be hosting the president of the United States
on our campus," said John Carney, president of USG. "We look forward to
hearing him speak to our students."
Michael Duga, director of legislative affairs for USG, said tickets will be
distributed to students and members of the public on Monday at four campus
locations.
Timetable (approximate)
7 a.m. -- arena doors open
8:30 a.m. -- audience seating completed
9 a.m. -- program begins
10:15 a.m. -- program ends
Tickets
Tickets will be required for admission to the arena.
USG will distribute free tickets at four campus locations from
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday (Oct. 28)
(1) the middle of the Oval
(2) the front desk of Morrill Tower, 1900 Cannon Drive
(3) the front desk of Enarson Hall,154 W. 12th Ave.
(4) the USG office in 201 Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St.
There is a limit of two tickets per person.
Seating will be general, with earlier arrivals having first choice.
Questions about tickets should be directed to USG at 292-2101.
Security and Parking
All entrants to the arena will have to pass through metal detectors, and all
bags are subject to search. Time will be saved if audience members do not
bring bags.
Information about public parking will be distributed by University
Communications on Monday.
Media credentials
The Clinton/Gore Campaign will coordinate press credentials for all media.
The instructions are on the next page. If you have difficulty reaching
them, you may also fax your request to University Communications at 292-0154
and we will forward it to the Clinton/Gore staff. The deadline is 5 p.m.
Monday.
The credential badges will be distributed Tuesday morning at the arena. The
credential desk will open at 6:30 a.m. and will be located at the southeast
entrance to St. John Arena (the door opposite the entrance to the Ice Rink).
Please be prepared to show a photo ID.
At this time it is planned that media parking will be in the lot on the
south side of French Field House. Live trucks will park in the loop
driveway off Woody Hayes Drive in front of the arena (see credentialling
information).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRESS REQUESTING CREDENTIALS
1. Press must FAX the following to Jay Byrne at (614) 228-0180:
-- name
-- postion (i.e., reporter, photographer, tech.)
-- date of birth
-- Social Security number
Fax must be on COMPANY LETTERHEAD
2. ALL requests MUST be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday 10/28.
Requests received after that time may not be honored.
3. Credential will be good for the arrival and departure at Port Columbus
International Airport AND the event at St. John Arena.
4. Press may pick up their credentials at Port Columbus South Cargo Area
beginning at 12 midnight on Monday 10/28, OR at St. John Arena press
entrance next to the Ice Rink 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
5. To pick up credentials, press MUST show:
1) a PICTURE PRESS ID; or
2) BOTH a drivers license AND a non-picture press ID
One person may pick up ALL the credentials for their organization.
6. Press who would like to pre-set equipment at the airport MUST do so
between 10 and 11 p.m. on Monday (this includes microwave or satellite
truck placement). There will be NO ACCESS to the airport from 11 p.m
until 12 midnight. Press who do not need to pre-set may arrive at
12 midnight. ALL press MUST be in place by 12:30 a.m. or they
will be DENIED ACCESS.
7. Press who would like to pre-set equipment at St. John Arena MUST do so
between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday (this includes microwave or
satellite truck placement). There will be NO ACCESS to the arena from
4:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Press who do not need to pre-set may arrive
at 6:30 a.m. ALL press MUST be in place by 8:30 or they will be
DENIED ACCESS.
