President of Somalia to Visit Ohio State Monday

WHO: The president of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

WHAT: President Mohamud will deliver a speech. Following his address, he will be available to speak to reporters.

WHEN: Monday, Sept. 23. The speech begins at 9 a.m. Media attending with equipment must clear security by 7 a.m. The availability will begin at 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: The Green Room located adjacent to the Performance Hall on the first floor of the Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will deliver a speech at The Ohio State University at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23. The speech, which is open to the public, has reached capacity. Following his talk, President Mohamud will be available to speak to reporters.

Elected president of Somalia in 2012, Mohamud is leading the first constitutional government of Somalia in 20 years.

In April 2013, he was listed in TIME 100, TIME magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. He has been a civic and political activist, a university professor and dean, and is the founder and chairman of the Peace and Development Party.
