Professor can discuss politics, foreign policy in Middle East

As the United States tries to garner support for a potential military invasion of Iraq, several nations have publicly opposed the action, claiming it would result in further instability in the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar are among the nations to most recently oppose a U.S. military action.

During the Persian Gulf War, the United States relied on Saudi Arabia to provide land for staging areas. In addition, Qatar has three bases used by American troops, one of which could be used as a hub for an invasion.
