Public Safety Update- noon 11/16/10

Ohio State University and local public safety officials continue to search the four campus buildings that were named in a bomb threat this morning.

OSU police were alerted by the FBI at 8:19 a.m. that bomb threats were received for The William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library, McPherson Chemical Lab, Smith Laboratory and Scott Laboratory.

As the investigation continues, three streets are closed to vehicular traffic: Neil Avenue north of 12th Avenue; 17th between Tuttle Park Place and College Road; and 18th and 19th between Neil Avenue and College Road.

The four affected building are closed until 5 p.m., and the Office of Academic Affairs has cancelled classes in those buildings until 5 p.m. The class cancellation includes only classes in the four buildings; classes and activities in other buildings will continue as scheduled.

The university is notifying via email the students and faculty with classes in those buildings about the cancellations.
