NEWS ADVISORY:
PUBLIC INVITED TO WELCOME BUCKEYES BACK TO COLUMBUS
Fans can greet the Rose Bowl-winning Ohio State University football team
upon their return to Columbus tonight at a rally at St. John Arena. The
program is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., when the team arrives from the
airport. Fans are advised not to go to Port Columbus, as the team will be
arriving by chartered plane in a non-public portion of the airport and will
immediately board buses for a police-escorted drive to the arena. There
will be no opportunity for the public to see the Buckeyes at the airport.
Doors to the arena open at 6:30 p.m., and the public will be admitted on a
first come, first served basis until the seats are filled.
The team will be introduced by Athletic Director Andy Geiger. Speakers
will include President Gordon Gee, Gov. George Voinovich, Mayor Greg
Lashutka, Coach John Cooper and the captains of the football team, and David
Williams II, vice president for student affairs.
