Statement by Ohio State University President Michael V. Drake on Governor Kasich’s proposed budget

“Governor Kasich’s continued leadership in higher education is good news for students and for jobs. Greater access and creative financial assistance will benefit students, their families and Ohio’s work force for years to come. This plan would make it easier for high school students to get a jump-start on college and improve access to state financial aid programs such as Ohio College Opportunity Grants and Choose Ohio First scholarships.

“The governor and I share the goal of ensuring that college remains both affordable and accessible for our students. We have demonstrated that commitment by providing record levels of institutional aid and controlling costs with the help of innovative funding strategies. We’re grateful that Governor Kasich has once again made higher education a key priority for the state. We look forward to continuing to work together as we explore the most efficient and effective ways to achieve our mutual goals.”
