Statement by President Karen A. Holbrook on proposed state budget revisions

"This legislative session is proving to be very exciting as the financial issues that are of great importance to prospective college students, their families, and citizens of Ohio are deliberated. Speaker of the House Jon Husted is making the kind of bold and decisive move that Ohio needs to spring forward in resetting its higher education priorities.

"Governor Strickland began the year by expressing his strong commitment to the role of higher education in revitalizing our state's economy. His innovative executive budget got the ball rolling, and the Ohio House appears poised to accelerate needed investments while being sensitive to the impact of tuition increases on students and their families.

"While details of the proposed budget pertaining to higher education are likely to require fine tuning, I urge all legislators to give positive consideration to the new initiatives."
