Statement from Virginia Trethewey, General Counsel for Ohio State

“The latest lawsuit filed yesterday by Maurice Clarett is procedurally irregular, at best, and misguided. The Ohio State University has vigorously protected the educational records of this student-athlete and his September 18 discovery lawsuit has generated no information that would lead Mr. Clarett to believe that Ohio State violated his privacy. In fact, there have been no court proceedings or discovery of any kind in that September 18 lawsuit, and the university's initial response to the Complaint is not even due until October 30, 2003.”
