Statement of Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee in response to Governor Strickland's budget revisions

"Governor Strickland's announcement today demonstrates a real commitment to doing what is in the best interest of the future of Ohio. In tough economic times, the administration's action to protect Ohio's investment in public higher education ensures the state's long-term economic health.

"In return for the support we are receiving from the Governor, Chancellor and General Assembly, Ohio State has a substantial responsibility. We must continue to attract and retain the best and brightest students, faculty, and staff provide a world class education, conduct cutting-edge research, attract outside investment, and partner with institutions, business and industry to turn innovative ideas into real-world solutions for the public good. And we must do so while being wise stewards of our resources.

"I deeply appreciate the state's affirmation of the importance of affordable and excellent public higher education. I am certain our students and their families are grateful as well."
