Statement regarding incident at Wexner Center for the Arts

“The incident which occurred Sunday at the Wexner Center for the Arts was shocking and traumatic for all involved and included the loss of one life. We can confirm the deceased, 63-year-old Dean D. Sturgis, to be a former Department of Public Safety security officer who resigned in lieu of termination in 2009. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Ohio State University Police continue to actively investigate and will share additional information as it becomes available. The Wexner Center for the Arts and Ohio State Department of Public Safety have also begun a thorough review, including security procedures.”
