Marching Band selected for Inaugural Parade, hopes to raise $70,000 to cover costs --
The Ohio State University Marching Band has been invited to officially represent Ohio in the 2005 Presidential Inaugural Parade for President George W. Bush on Jan. 20, 2005, and will perform “Beautiful Ohio” as it passes the reviewing stand. The trip marks the band’s fourth Presidential Inaugural Parade appearance. Since marching in the Presidential Inaugural Parade is beyond the scope of normal university or athletic performances, the band, like many others marching in the parade, is responsible for raising its own funds. University celebrates Alamo Bowl with service project, pep rally – Dec. 26-30.
Community Service, an open-to-the-public Marching Band rehearsal and a Buckeye pep rally are among the activities that media are invited to cover. Events include:
Sunday, Dec. 26.
· Final Marching Band rehearsal in Columbus
The Marching Band is rehearsing and spreading its own style of Buckeye cheer in San Antonio prior to the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29Before leaving for San Antonio, Tex., the band will rehearse its halftime show, “A Night at the Opera,” from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday (12/26) at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, 2491 Olentangy River Road.
Monday, Dec. 27.
· Marching Band rehearses, performs in pep rally
After arriving in San Antonio, the band will rehearse from 2 to 4 p.m. CST on Monday (12/27) in the Blossom Athletic Complex, 12002 Jones Maltsberger Road. Later, the band will perform at 6 p.m. in the SYLVANIA Alamo Bowl Pep Rally, located at Arneson River Theater. For additional information on the band, see http://www.osuband.org.

· Community Service at the San Antonio Food Bank
For the sixth consecutive year, Ohio State will repay the city hosting its bowl game by taking part in a project to benefit the local community. This year, members of Ohio State and Okalahoma State University will volunteer from 8 to 11 a.m. at the San Antonio Food Bank, 4311 Director Drive. President Karen A. Holbrook and Vice President for Student Affairs William Hall are among the university administrators expected to take part in the project. The volunteers will prepare “emergency food boxes” to feed a family of four for 4 to 5 days. For more information, see http://www.safoodbank.org.

· Buckeye Bash
The annual pep rally features coaches, cheerleaders and features the Marching Band. The event is from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, 200 E. Market St.
