A ceremonial lighting of the lantern tower at Ohio State University's new student Union will be held at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday (4/6) at 1739 N. High Street on the southeast lawn. The Union is located along the pathway of the Underground Railroad and the new lantern tower will be lit each night.

Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee will participate in the dedication ceremony, which will be highlighted by a drumming processional preceded by a special performance by longtime freedom activist Bernice Johnson Reagon at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

The university's Multicultural Center will now be located on the first floor of the tower to serve as a continuing landmark to students of all identities and cultures. CONTACT: Liz Cook, (614) 292-7276.

Rally to announce new Pelotonia funding partnerships – April 6. The sponsors to the 2010 Pelotonia will be announced at a 4 p.m. rally on Tuesday (4/6) at Ohio State's Recreation and Physical Activity Center, 337 W. 17th Ave.

Pelotonia 2010 takes place August 20-22. More than 700 riders have registered so far for the ride from Columbus to Athens. All funds raised by Pelotonia and its riders goes directly to fund cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Advances in Veterinary Medicine Day – April 8. The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine celebrates the 20th annual "Advances in Veterinary Medicine Day" on Thursday (4/8). This event is designed to showcase the research accomplishments of veterinary students, residents, graduate students, and faculty in the college, and allow the college community to learn about research being conducted by colleagues. Student research will be on display at the Veterinary Medicine Academic Building, 1900 Coffey Rd. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 8. This year's keynote speaker is Ohio State Alumnus William D. Symposium to Focus on Responsible Urban Land-Use Management – April 14. As global populations increase, urban centers are becoming the areas of choice for residents. But with increasing urbanization comes more environmental responsibility for the land.

Ohio State University is hosting a one-day symposium on April 14 to bring together academic scholars, industry stakeholders and legislative officials to address emerging and current issues of urbanization.

"Carbon Sequestration in Urban Ecosystems" will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Ohio State University's Fawcett Center, 2400 Olentangy River Road. The event is sponsored by the Carbon Management and Sequestration Center of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center and Scotts Miracle-Gro Company.
