ENTOMOLOGISTS SWARM TO COLUMBUS--March 23-26.   Nearly 400 insect 
specialists from across the midwest will buzz to the 52nd annual 
meeting of the North Central Branch of the Entomological Society 
of America at the Hyatt Regency Columbus, 400 N. High St.  The 
meeting offers scientists a chance to present new information on 
their research and current studies.  Events include an Insect 
Photo Salon on March 23; a welcome from Columbus Mayor Lashutka 
on March 24; sessions on insect physiology, behavior, and control 
strategies.  A 100 Year Celebration of Entomology will be held 
March 24 at the Ohio State Museum of Biological Diversity, 1315 
Kinnear Rd.  Four nationally-recognized speakers will be featured 
at the 2 p.m. Centennial Symposium, including a talk titled A 
Six-legged Leap into the 21st Century.

WEXNER PRIZE EVENT RE-BROADCAST ON NPR--March 24.  Filmmaker 
Martin Scorsese accepted the Wexner Prize on Friday, Feb. 28 at 
the Wexner Center for the Arts.  The weekend's major public event 
was Friday evening's public conversation between Scorsese and 
noted film critic Roger Ebert.  The conversation will air on 
Terry Gross's National Public Radio show Fresh Air on March 24.  
Fresh Air is heard on approximately 190 stations across the 
country, including WCBE-FM, 90.5 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

INSECT ART ON DISPLAY--March 25-26.  What better way to welcome 
entomologists than an Insect in Art Show?   Ar (t) ropoda is the 
new exhibit in the Hopkins Hall Gallery, 128 N. Oval Mall.  The 
show helps  kick off a year-long 100 year anniversary of  the 
Entomology Department.

CONFERENCE EXAMINES LAND USE DEBATE--March 25-26.  Balancing the 
competing demands for land  is the topic of a conference 
sponsored by Ohio State Extension, the Ohio EPA and about two 
dozen other organizations March 25-26 at the Columbus Athenaeum, 
34 N. Fourth St.  Growth & the Future, A Land Use Conference for 
All of Ohio will feature 60 concurrent sessions on issues 
including housing and transportation, farmland preservation, 
greenways, urban sprawl, and agricultural zoning.

VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT FOR INFERTILITY STUDY--Women who have had 
unsuccessful treatment for infertility are wanted for a study to 
help health care professionals support women with similar 
problems. Women will be asked to discuss their experiences and 
how their lives have been changed.  Results will provide health 
care professionals with information to support other women whose 
infertility treatments have been unsuccessful.  Women ages 31 to 
46 who have stopped treatment for infertility in the past one to 
five years are invited to enroll in the study.
