UNIVERSITY CELEBRATES HISPANIC HERITAGE--April 13-17.  Health 
communications issues for Spanish-speaking people and other issues 
affecting Hispanics and Latin Americans will be examined during 
Hispanic Awareness Week.  In addition to special art exhibits, lectures 
and meals, events include a three-day health communications conference.  
It begins on Tuesday (April 14) with a panel discussion on Enhancing 
Medical Communication and Cultural Competence in Caring for Spanish-
speaking People from noon to 1:30 p.m. in S125 Doan Hall, 410 W. 10th 
Ave.  A public meeting about issues affecting the Hispanic population 
in Ohio with the Ohio Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs will 
follow at 5:30 p.m. in the Memorial Room in the Ohio Union, 1739 N. 
High St.  The conference concludes Thursday (4/16) with a panel 
discussion on Mobilizing Health Community Resources for Spanish-
speaking People in S125 Doan Hall.

HOW LITTLE EXERCISE CAN I GET AWAY WITH?--April 14.   Learn how much 
exercise is enough for health and fitness, and how to begin and 
maintain an exercise program in the first in a series of educational 
programs offered by the OSU Wellness Program during spring quarter.   
Dylan Wessmann, program manager in the Exercise Science Lab, discusses 
How Little Can I Get Away With?  Exploring Exercise Minimums, noon-1 
p.m. MW 154 New Math Tower, 231 W. 18th Ave.

LAW LECTURE LOOKS AT MEDIATION--April 15.  Craig McEwen, a professor of 
political economy and sociology at Bowdoin College, will lecture on 
Making or Breaking Mediation: The Role of Lawyers at 4 p.m. in Drinko 
Hall Auditorium, 55 W. 12th Ave.  McEwen has written extensively in the 
area of dispute resolution, including Mediation: Law, Policy and 
Practice with Ohio State's Professor Nancy Rogers.

EXPERT ON SPIRITUALITY AND MEDICINE SPEAKS AT MEDICAL CENTER--April 15.  
Dr. Herbert Bensen, president of the Mind/Body Institute at Harvard 
Medical School, will lecture on spirituality and its relationship with 
medicine at 10:30 a.m. in 160 Meiling Hall, 370 W. 9th Ave.  As chief 
of behavioral medicine at Beth Deaconess Medical Center, Bensen has 
authored more than 150 scientific publications and six books, including 
The Wellness Book, and Timeless Healing: The Power of Biology and 
Belief.

PROFESSOR DISCUSSES LESBIAN HEALTH RESEARCH--April 17.  Lesbian Health 
Research: Past, Present and Future is the topic of a lecture by Linda 
Bernhard from 2-4 p.m. in 120 Baker Systems Engineering Building, 1971 
Neil Ave.  A professor of nursing and women's studies at Ohio State,  
Bernhard has written extensively on a variety of issues related to 
women's health, feminism, nursing and sexuality.  Her talk  is part of 
a series of lectures on Interdisciplinary Exploration into the 
Realities of Women in Contemporary Society.
