during the summertime.

LEARN TO CREATE A WETLAND--July 15-16, 17-19.  When developers 
destroy a wetland in Ohio, they must create a 'mitigation wetland' 
to replace the lost habitat.  The Olentangy River Wetlands Research 
Park at Ohio State offers three short courses in wetlands taught by 
nationally known wetlands experts.   Wastewater Treatment Wetlands, 
July 15-16, will be held at a new wetland in Fairfield County that 
is the first major domestic wastewater treatment wetland in Ohio.  
Creation and Restoration of Wetlands for Mitigation, July 17-19 will 
be held at the Olentangy River Wetland Park.  Wetland Delineation 
Certification Training, August 5-9,  will follow a course outline 
developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

JAZZ ENSEMBLE PERFORMS IN EUROPE--July 11-25.  The Ohio State 
University Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Professor Ted 
McDaniel, will perform at Europe's two most prestigious jazz 
festivals and EuroDisney during a two-week tour through Europe.  The 
group will appear as part of the North Sea Jazz Festival in 
Amsterdam, the largest indoor jazz festival in the world July 13.  
The ensemble will play at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 18-19 
in Montreux, Switzerland.  While in Europe, the Jazz Ensemble will 
play concerts in many other locations, including EuroDisney on July 
16.

SUMMER INSTITUTES OFFER INNOVATIVE ARTS AND SCIENCE COURSES FOR HIGH 
SCHOOL STUDENTS--July 8-26.  This month, three different programs 
are offered for 10th and 11th graders from around Ohio interested in 
art, engineering or supercomputing.  The Ohio State University 
Summer Institute for the Gifted and Talented in the Arts, July 8-19, 
offers an intense exploration of art, dance, music, theatre and 
creative writing for some 70 high school students.  The Summer 
Institute in Engineering, July 8-19,  is a hands-on laboratory 
concentrated on engineering design and use of computers.  Students 
will attend programs in scientific visualization at the Ohio 
Supercomputer Center July 15-26.
