F-16 FLYOVER AT HALFTIME SALUTES VETERANS--Nov. 11, Ohio Stadium.  
The University will salute veterans with two programs on Veterans Day.  
Epsilon Tau Sigma, the student veterans fraternity, and Army ROTC's Pershing
Rifles and Color Guard will raise the US and
Prisoners-of-War/Missing-in-Action flags in an 11 a.m. ceremony in front of
Ramseyer Hall, 29 W. Woodruff Ave.  A half-time program in Ohio Stadium
during the OSU-Illinois football game will honor veterans.  The Marching
Band will play music of the World War II era and the songs of each service
branch.  There will also be a flyover of F-16 jets.  About 2,000 Ohio State
faculty and staff are veterans, and 1,000 students are attending the
university under the GI Bill.

UNIVERSITY HOSTS AFRICAN HERITAGE STUDENTS NATIONAL CONFERENCE-
-Nov.9-12. The African Heritage Studies Association/Student/Youth Commission
holds its fourth annual national conference, "Afrocentricity: From Rhetoric
to Praxis," at the Frank Hale Cultural Center, 153 W. 12th Ave.  Organized
in 1968, the AHSA is committed to the preservation, interpretation and
creative presentation of the heritage of African people. The conference
features sessions on politics, family, spirituality, mental and physical
health, feminism, economics, and healing circles.  (The word "praxis" means
practice.)

SMOKEOUT TO 'KNOCK THE ASH OFF MICHIGAN'--NOV.16. To get people to quit
smoking for at least 24 hours, the American Cancer Society is holding "The 
Great American Smokeout" from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the Oval.  Athletic Director
Andy Geiger and former athlete Greg Frey, former athlete, will speak.  Giant
maize and blue cigarette packs will be available so people can put out the
"brand from up North."  Cold turkey sandwiches will be given to smokers who
try to quit for the day..

THE FIRST 20 YEARS OF FUNNIES--Nov. 30.  As part of the centennial of the 
comic strip, Lucy Caswell, curator for the Cartoon, Graphic andPhotographic 
Arts Research Library, will present "Mickey, Alphonse and Toodles: The First
20 years of the Funnies" at 4 p.m. in the Faculty Club Grand Lounge, 181 S.
Oval Drive.  This humorous and informative lecture will focus on the early
evolution of cartoons.

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS OFFER TURKEY, HONEY FOR SALE  Fresh, whole turkeys are
available at $1.35/lb. at the OSU Poultry Science Club's 45th annual 
turkey sale.  Orders are due by Nov. 10, and buyers pick up birds Nov. 21-22
at Dakan Hall, 674 W. Lane Ave.  The seventh Annual Holiday Honey Sale
offers beeswax items, candy, sticks, gift packages and honey varieties.
Displays and sales will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 14 and 28 in the Botany and
Zoology Building, 1735 Neil Ave., Nov. 15 and 29 in Baker Systems
Engineering, 1971 Neil Ave., and Nov. 16 and 30 in the Agricultural
Administration Building's 4-H lobby, 2120 Fyffe Rd.
