STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF OFFERED THANKSGIVING DINNER--Nov. 27.
The Office of Minority Affairs and The Frank W. Hale, Jr. Black
Cultural Center will host the fifth annual Thanksgiving dinner
from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Black Cultural Center, 153 W. 12th
Ave. The free meals are available to Ohio State faculty, staff
and students. Last year, 125 students who could not go home for
Thanksgiving participated in the campus dinner. Reservations
will be accepted through today (11/26) at 292-0074.

PUBLIC EDUCATION FORUMS FEATURE STATE TREASURER BLACKWELL AND
CLEVELAND SUPERINTENDENT BOYD--Dec. 1-3. Ohio Treasurer J.
Kenneth Blackwell will be the speaker at the third Ohio State
forum on the future of public education Monday (12/1) from 7:30
p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Edgar Dale Media Center, 260 Ramseyer
Hall, 29 W. Woodruff Ave. Blackwell supports a proposed funding
solution for Ohio schools that focuses on school choice. A
former teacher and university vice president, Blackwell will meet
with Ohio State students, faculty and staff during the forum. On
Wednesday (12/3), Cleveland Public Schools Superintendent Richard
Boyd will be the fourth series speaker, discussing governance of
education from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in 110 Ramseyer Hall. Boyd
recently accepted the state superintendency of Mississippi,
effective Jan. 1, 1998. The series provides an opportunity for
students and policy-makers to air and debate public policy issues
related to education. The forums are presented through PROBE
(Policy Research for Ohio Based Education) in the College of
Education.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETS--Dec. 5. The Board of Trustees will hold
its regular December meeting at 11 a.m. Friday (12/5) in the
Alumni Lounge, Fawcett Center, 2400 Olentangy River Road.
Committee meetings, where most of the discussion takes place,
begin at 9 a.m.

STUDENTS SAY FAREWELL TO GEE--Dec. 5. President E. Gordon Gee
will attend several public events during his last month at Ohio
State. Gee plans to reflect on the university
