Students move into residence halls on Sunday

President Karen A. Holbrook will be greeting students and their families during Move-In Day Sunday (9/18) at The Ohio State University.

Holbrook will be available to speak to media at 9 a.m. at The Jerome Schottenstein Center, 555 Borror Drive.

At the Schottenstein Center, approximately 5,000 students will begin the process of moving into 31 campus residence halls in preparation for the start of autumn quarter classes on Wednesday (9/21).

Residence halls open on Sunday (9/18), with assisted move-in available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The university has made special arrangements to make move-in easier.

The process begins with check-in at the Schottenstein Center, where students obtain their room keys and can conduct other university business. Then, they and their families are directed into special traffic patterns for organized unloading at each residence hall. Student Affairs staff and student volunteers called OWLS (Ohio State Welcome Leaders) will greet them and help them unload their belongings and get them to their rooms. Because so many visitors are on campus on Sunday, Ohio State officials strongly encourage motorists to avoid driving through the campus area. Many streets are closed or restricted, and officers will be controlling traffic at major intersections.
