Take a Daughter to Work Day Celebrated at OSU 4+27

TAKE A DAUGHTER TO WORK DAY CELEBRATED AT OHIO STATE APRIL 27

     COLUMBUS -- Ohio State University employees are invited to
"Take a Daughter to Work," on Thursday, April 27, and introduce
children to a range of exciting careers.

     Participants may try their hands at designing a toy, lifting
fingerprints off objects, building a pond, programing a computer,
and even seeing what it's like to be a university president.

     Girls and boys, ages 9 to 17, may attend any of the 29 free
workshops around campus, taught by faculty and staff volunteers.
More than 600 children are expected to participate.

     "We hope to expose children to the range of opportunities
that Ohio State has to offer," explains Lydia Block, assistant
director of disability services at Ohio State, and a member of
the "Take a Daughter to Work Day" steering committee.

     "Take a Daughter to Work Day," is a national program
established by the Ms. Foundation.  At Ohio State, the day is
sponsored by the University Career Services Committee and the
Association of Faculty and Professional Women.

     Workshops are offered from 8:30-10:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m.-12:00
p.m., and 1:45-3:00 p.m.  Children may eat lunch free at
residence halls dining rooms when accompanied by a faculty or
staff sponsor.  Participants must have pre-registered by April
20.

     The enclosed program lists titles and locations of the
workshops offered during "Take a Daughter to Work Day" at Ohio
State.
