TBDBITL celebrates women who rock at first Buckeye home game

Halftime performance also features all-female i-dotters

Buckeyes returned to the ’Shoe Saturday for the first home football game, against Youngstown State University, as well as the first performance from The Ohio State University Marching Band of the 2023 season.

Women first joined the marching band’s ranks in 1973. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of this change, TBDBITL performed hits from artists like Taylor Swift, Whitney Houston and Shania Twain. In addition, the Ohio State University Alumni Band joined the halftime show for the 54th year. Four women dotted the i, including first-ever female i-dotter Jan Duga, and Isabel Slaven, an industrial and systems engineering student and current fifth-year band member.

In the first halftime show of the season, “Time and Change: 1973,” the band presented “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “Shake It Off,” “I Wanna Go Back,” “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “Girls Just Want To Have Fun,” “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me),” “Roar” and “Le Régiment.”

The band’s formations included a quadruple Script Ohio, people dancing, musicians and a drum major with a twirling baton.
