The Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee responds to state budget proposal

“With this budget proposal, Governor Kasich is unquestionably dedicated to strengthening Ohio’s economic climate and global competitiveness. His budget outlines a clear strategy for how the state’s colleges and universities can move Ohio forward together. At a time when other states are reducing critical funding for higher education, the governor has once again affirmed the importance of an educated workforce to our state’s economic well-being by providing an increase for a new funding formula that rewards degree and course completion.

“The governor’s higher education funding strategy is clearly a sea change predicated on a unique collaboration between our state and higher education leaders and a renewed focus on student success. While extending our state’s forward momentum, this innovative approach marks a watershed moment for Ohio, which I believe will establish a new standard for the nation.”
