The Ohio State University recognizes Corbett Price for dedication to his alma mater
Columbus, Ohio – Corbett A. Price of New York was recognized for his philanthropy to The Ohio State University at the New York launch of the But for Ohio State fundraising campaign. The event was held Nov. 4 at the University Club of New York.
The event, part of the multi-city But for Ohio State Campaign tour hosted by Ohio State Interim President Joseph A. Alutto was attended by over 150 Ohio State alumni and supporters from the New York area. More than 10,000 Ohio State alumni currently reside in New York, including 9,200 in the New York metro area.
“Corbett Price gives generously of his time and resources to support Ohio State and is an important adviser to the university in many capacities,” said Interim President Joseph A. Alutto. “His multimillion dollar support of everything from scholarships to discretionary funds gives us the leverage to attract the best and brightest students and faculty to Ohio State. Corbett is a loyal alumnus, a generous benefactor, a valued member of our Board of Trustees and a committed public servant.”
Price, who earned a master’s degree from Ohio State, has generously supported numerous Ohio State initiatives, including creating the Corbett Price Scholarship Fund benefiting the university’s Fisher College of Business and the C.A.P. (Corbett A. Price) Fund in Health Services Management and Policy. He also contributes to the President’s Discretionary Fund and the Stand Up for Shakespeare program, a partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company to bring Shakespeare to Ohio classrooms. In addition, Price provided the lead gifts for the Stephen Loebs Professorship in the College of Public Health and the establishment of the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity.
Price says he is committed to strengthening communities through the power of education and encourages other alumni to consider reinvesting in Ohio State by sharing their time to support the students, faculty and staff, and through philanthropy.
“As a graduate of The Ohio State University, I feel it is important to give back and invest in the university that gave so much to me,” said Price. “In addition to funding important programs and supporting potential young leadership, I believe that a big part of giving is volunteerism. I have been privileged to serve on boards and committees that govern and help further the causes of this great university.”
Price’s gifts also support the university’s But for Ohio State Campaign. The $2.5 billion universitywide campaign raises funds for five priority areas: providing essential support to students, elevating faculty and the academic enterprise, creating modern learning environments, emboldening the research agenda and driving high-impact innovation. Price served as the treasurer of the But for Ohio State Campaign during the campaign’s silent phase.
Price, a charter trustee on the university’s Board of Trustees, is chairman and CEO of Quantix Health Capital, LLC, a health care financial advisory firm. He also serves as CEO of Kurron Capital, LLC, a health care private equity firm, and is the founder and chairman of Kurron & Co. Inc., a management consulting firm that manages health care companies in the U.S. and abroad.
Price previously served as a senior executive at HCA. He also served as chairman and CEO of Health Risk Management, a multifaceted health care services company.
Price devotes his time through service on boards of businesses and charitable organizations that include the Fisher Dean’s Advisory Council and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Board, and previously on The Ohio State University Foundation Board of Directors.
Price currently serves on the board of the Mental Health Association of New York City. He has also been a longtime supporter of the Young Achievers Program, a program sponsored by the Metro-Manhattan Links Foundation that supports the education and preparation of young African-American and Latino males for college.
He was honored with the university’s Distinguished Service Award in 2008.
Price is the father of two adult sons, both of whom are graduates of Ohio State. He and his wife have two young daughters, Rachelle and Laila, who attend The Chapin School in New York City.
