Three finalists to be selected for Fisher Business Plan Competition
Three finalists will be selected from the more than 100 teams competing in the Center for Entrepreneurships’ 2005 Fisher Business Plan Competition. The competition is sponsored by Deloitte & Touche.
The top winners will be announced at an awards banquet from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday (5/20) at the Faculty Club, 181 S. Oval Drive. The formal program is set to begin at about 7:15 p.m. Each team will give an oral presentation of its plan to a panel of leading experts, including entrepreneurs, industry leaders and venture capitalists.
The six finalists are:
• Authis: Provides outsourced authentication services for a wide range of online consumer and business applications
• Pinpoint Dynamics: Develops avionics products such as an aircraft collision warning system suitable for light aircraft
• Siren Audio: Distributes high-quality sound effects and production music quickly and efficiently via the Internet
• Spotless & Shine: Develops automatic car-washing technology for auto markets
• Strategic Thinking Industries, LLC: Provides software products for the healthcare information technology industry
• Unknown Games: Offers innovative olfactory games (involving the sense of smell) that appeal to children, teenagers and adults in the home entertainment market.
In its fifth year, the competition empowers community members to turn their business ideas into a formal plan. Teams must include at least one Ohio State students, and may not have invested more than $100,000 into their business prior to the competition.
Last year’s winner, Vertebration Inc., went on to win the $50,000 top honor in Fortune Small Business magazine’s business plan competition. The team, consisting of 2004 Fisher College Executive MBA program members, proposed development of an implant used to fuse adjacent vertebrae together and the corresponding implantation instruments.
