Traffic Advice for Football Fans

                  ATTENTION, TRAFFIC REPORTERS:
ADVICE FOR DRIVERS COMING TO OHIO STATE-PENN STATE GAME

Ohio State University traffic and parking officials have
several suggestions for fans driving to the Ohio State-Penn State
football game on Saturday: Allow plenty of time to arrive and
park; plan to park in the West Campus lots; consider taking a
COTA bus to the campus.

"People who park in the West Campus lots will have less
hassle and confusion than people who try to park closer to
campus," said Sarah Blouch, director of Transportantion and
Parking Services.

The West Campus lots are accessible from Lane Avenue and
Kinnear Road. Free shuttle buses will run between the Mount Hall
loop on West Campus and the pedestrian bridge over the Olentangy
River just south of the stadium. The buses begin running at
12:30 p.m. for the 3:30 p.m. kickoff and continue until one hour
after the game ends.

Parking is also available at Ackerman and Olentangy River
Roads and the intramural fields at Cannon Drive and King Avenue.
All lots open at 6 a.m. and cost $5 for the public. Cars with
current Ohio State parking decals may park at no charge.

Construction of the Schottenstein Center and the Max M.
Fisher College of Business has eliminated lots available in other
years at Olentangy and Lane, and Neil Avenue and Woody Hayes
Drive. About 3,700 parking spaces were lost. However, there are
plenty of spaces available on West Campus.

Other points drivers should be aware of are:

* Traffic on High Street between 11th and 14th avenues is limited
to one lane in each direction because of city sewer work.

* As usual, one-way traffic patterns will be in effect on many
streets in the campus area both before and after the game.

* Be alert to the directions of the traffic control officers who
will be working throughout the area to expediate traffic flow.
