Traffic Alert: Route 315 ramps close as Ohio State hosts 2008 Ohio Special Olympics Summer Games

The Ohio State University will be a very busy place this weekend as the 2008 Ohio Special Olympics Summer Games take place at several campus locations. Some 7,000-10,000 visitors are expected to attend the annual games, which kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday (6/27) at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Visitors should prepare for traffic restrictions in the area since City of Columbus crews will be performing pavement repairs on State Route 315 between Ackerman Rd. and I-670. Repairs will take place from 8 p.m. Friday (6/27) through 5 a.m. on Monday (6/30).

Motorists should expect delays and consider alternate routes. Restrictions include:

•Northbound 315 will be restricted to one lane between I-670 and Ackerman Rd. Entrance ramps to northbound 315 from westbound I-670, Goodale Blvd., Olentangy River Rd. and Lane Ave. will be closed. Also the Lane Ave. exit will be closed. The northbound exit to Ackerman will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.

•Southbound 315 will be restricted to one lane from West North Broadway to I-670. Entrance ramps to 315 from West North Broadway, Ackerman Rd. and Lane Ave. will be closed. The Lane Avenue exit will also be closed.

During the closure, southbound traffic for Ohio Special Olympics should use the Ackerman or Kinnear Rd exits. Northbound traffic should use the Medical Center Drive exit, or the Ackerman Rd. exit (after it reopens Saturday morning).

Traffic leaving the area going northbound will be directed to the Ackerman Rd. entrance ramp via Kenny and Olentangy River Rd. Traffic going southbound will be directed to the Olentangy/Goodale entrance ramp via Kenny and Olentangy River Rd.
Motorists may also access 315 south from the 12th Ave. entrance ramp.
