TRUSTEES APPROVE APPOINTMENTS TO PROFESSORSHIPS, BOARDS

     COLUMBUS -- The Ohio State University Board of Trustees
approved Friday (9/5) a variety of appointments to
professorships, a regional campus board and the hospitals board.
Appointments

     Trustees appointed Lawrence W. Libby of UPPER ARLINGTON to
the C. William Swank Chair in Rural and Urban Policy in the
Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology. 

     Libby, who joined the faculty Aug. 1, was a professor and
chair of the Department of Food and Resource Economics at the
University of Florida from 1987 to 1996.  He spent 1996-97 as a
visiting scholar with the Center for Agriculture in the
Environment, American Farmland Trust, in DeKalb, Ill.  He
