University announces plans to celebrate Champions

COLUMBUS – Ohio State fans in Columbus and across the state will have the opportunity to congratulate the National Champion Buckeyes at a special celebration set for 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in Ohio Stadium. The event is free and open to the public.

Coach Jim Tressel, the team and coaches will be honored by Ohio State President Karen A. Holbrook, Gov. Bob Taft and Mayor Michael Coleman. Athletics Director Andy Geiger will be the event’s master of ceremonies. Highlights of the national championship game, including the two heart-stopping overtimes, will be shown on the stadium scoreboard.

Gates will open at 11 a.m. Concession stands will be open to purchase a limited menu of food and beverage items, and Ohio State National Championship merchandise also will be available. Other details including those relating to parking will be released next week.

WHO: Ohio State President Karen A. Holbrook, Gov. Bob Taft and Mayor Michael Coleman will recognize Coach Jim Tressel, the football team and coaches.
