NEWS ADVISORY:
TASK FORCE TO RELEASE RECOMMENDATIONS
TO IMPROVE THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY AREA
The University Area Improvement Task Force will release its
report and recommendations at a news conference Thursday, June 2,
at 11:30 a.m. in the Holiday Inn on the Lane, 328 W. Lane Ave.
The event will be in the Buckeye Room on the 11th floor.
Participating in the news conference will be Columbus Mayor
Greg Lashutka, Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee, and James L.
Nichols, treasurer of the university and chair of the task force.
President Gee established the task force last January to
develop an improvement plan for the neighborhoods adjacent to the
campus. The 17-member task force includes representatives of the
City of Columbus, the Columbus Apartment Association, University
Area community and business groups, and the university's Board of
Trustees, students, faculty, staff and administrators.
In developing its report, the task force has gathered
student demographic data, has sponsored focus groups to consider
the University Area's future, has visited other urban
universities, and has held public forums.

Sterrett, director of news services, at 292-8472.
