USG, police to install technology that identifies personal property

Representatives from the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and University Police will be helping off-campus students identify their personal property by installing free technology on bicycles and other items. This event is a part of USG’s Safety Awareness Week at Ohio State.

Using the latest in electronic and computer technology, officials can “Bug Your Bike” with radio frequency identification devices, and other personal valuables can be registered through an ultraviolet marking system that establishes ownership. Police can then use the technology to positively identify stolen items.

The event is set from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday (10/22) at the 15th Avenue and High Street intersection.

In addition, Safety Awareness Week includes information on self-defense, rape education and fire safety.
