Zweben to Head Computing Association

ZWEBEN ELECTED PRESIDENT OF COMPUTING ASSOCIATION

     COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Stuart H. Zweben of DUBLIN, Ohio, has been
elected to a two-year term as president of the Association for
Computing Machinery.

     Founded in 1947, the 85,000-member organization is the
oldest educational and scientific society in the computing field.

     Zweben, professor and incoming chairperson of the Department
of Computer and Information Science at The Ohio State University,
just completed a two-year stint as vice president of the
association.

     The new vice president is Randy W. Dipner, president and
founder of Meeting the Challenge Inc. in Colorado Springs.  Re-
elected secretary was John H. Esbin, commissioner of computing
services for the City of Toledo.

     A faculty member since 1974, Zweben specializes in computer
software engineering, evaluation and reuse.  He has a bachelor's
degree in math from City College of New York, a master's degree
in statistics and computer science and a doctorate in computer
sciences, both from Purdue University.

     Dipner, an Ohio State alumnus, has a bachelor's degree in
aeronautical engineering and computer and information sciences.
His firm is a developer of technology designed to assist persons
with disabilities.
