Campus Partners to Sponsor Student Forum Feb. 19 onNeighborhood Improvements

CAMPUS PARTNERS TO SPONSOR STUDENT FORUM
FEB. 19 ON NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENTS

The Student Involvement Committee of Campus Partners will
hold a public forum for students on Wednesday, Feb. 19, to
discuss proposed priorities for implementation of the plan to
improve the neighborhoods around The Ohio State University.

The forum will be held in two sessions, each with the same
program, from 4-5:30 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. in the Campus Partners
office, 1824 N. High St.(next to Long's Bookstore). Snacks and
soft drinks will be served.

Student suggestions are needed, in particular, on improving
the retail and entertainment vitality of High Street and on
enhancing student rental housing and the quality of life in the
neighborhoods. The sessions will be interactive to give everyone
opportunities to voice their ideas or to respond to proposals.

Campus Partners last July published its planning document,
University Neighborhoods Revitalization Concept. The Campus
Partners Board of Trustees in December divided itself into four
ad hoc committees which have been reviewing all the
revitalization plan's recommendations in four general areas:
--student rental housing and quality of life in the
neighborhoods.
--retail revitalization along High Street.
--opportunities to increase homeownership in the University
District.
--faculty and student involvement in the neighborhoods and human
services in the University District.

The Campus Partners staff will take input from these four
committees, from meetings with neighborhood leaders and from the
student forum to the Campus Partners Board of Trustees later this
month. The board will shape the proposed priorities into a work
plan for Campus Partners for the next year or two.
